Bankruptcy Cost

man cuts the card
Bankruptcy costs typically run between $1,500 and $4,000 for court filing and attorney fees.  These numbers are from American Bankruptcy Institute data from 2005—2009.  Fees generally rise over time, and can also be higher or lower depending on where the case is filed.

  • Chapter 7 court Filing Fees: $335
  • Chapter 13 court Filing Fees: $310
  • Average Attorney Fee for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy: $1072
  • Average Attorney Fee for Chapter 13 Bankruptcy: $2564

You should consider these as rough numbers only, and talk to your attorney at The Richmond Bankruptcy Firm for a clearer estimate. Attorneys have to charge more for complex cases, or if more court appearances are needed, for example.  It varies on a case by case basis.  Call (804) 294-3003 to get a realistic estimate of what your bankruptcy will cost.
